danese-milano-border-no-2-container
Danese Milano Border No. 2 Container

The Border No. 2 Container is a sculptural table accessory designed by Ron Gilad for Danese Milano in 2018, part of the brand's Table Accessories collection. Crafted from powder coated metal, it embodies the designer's ongoing exploration of geometry, balance and the relationship between an object and the space it occupies.

Conceived around the idea of marking a territory, the container plays with the tension between structure and function. Four semicircles appear to support a central square, or alternatively, the square seems to lift the semicircles into form — an ambiguity that is central to the piece. Gilad describes this interplay as a conscious act of containment and protection, transforming a neutral area into a defined, purposeful space.

True to the designer's conceptual approach, the Border No. 2 Container does not lose its function even when turned upside down. Instead, it reveals an alternative use, blurring the line between the logical and the absurd. This duality makes it both a practical object for everyday use and a quiet study in form, perfectly suited to a desk, console or shelf where its geometric presence can be appreciated from multiple angles.

Finished in durable powder coated metal, the container combines refined materiality with a strong sculptural identity, reflecting Danese Milano's long-standing dedication to thoughtful, design-driven objects. A versatile addition to any interior, it stands as both a functional accessory and a subtle expression of Ron Gilad's distinctive design language.
