The David Groppi Simbiosi Suspension lamp is an epitome of the symbiosis of technical expertise, imagination, and quality. It is a sleek contemporary lamp with high performance, perfect for any interior.
Davide Groppi is an Italian designer known for his interpretation of art, literature, and history through his lamp creations. Since the 1980s, he designs, manufactures, and distributes his lamps all around the world. Simbiosi is Italian for Symbiosis. Symbiosis is a common biological term for a mutually beneficial relationship between two living organisms. In general, it also applies to a favorable link between people and organizations. In 2015, Davide Groppi created a ceiling lamp based on this idea. A series of diodes are connected by a thin inconspicuous electric wire. A very low electric current passes through them, lighting each connected with the other. They are dependent on each other for functioning, and this forms the fundamental concept of the project.
Davide Groppi Simbiosi Suspension lamp looks like a chandelier, but with a fresh, minimal design. Each light source is a tubular white diode, which can be removed or added, according to the choice of the user. Only two of the light sources are connected to the ceiling rose. Six other lamps are connected with red electric cables, which carry a low current passing through each one. The suspension cable and the electric cable are so thin that they are invisible. The white framework and ceiling rose of the lamp matches with the warm white light exuded by the LEDs. The light is dimmable. The lamp has a light and airy framework, almost looking like wind chimes floating in the air. It is perfect for lighting restaurants, large hallways, living rooms, etc.
