“PoulHenningsen, designer, was born in Copenhagen. He never graduated as an architect, but studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, Denmark from 1911-14, and then at Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-17. He started practicing traditional functionalistic architecture, but over the years, his professional interests changed to focus mainly on lighting which is what he is most famous for.”
The Louis Poulsen AJ Royal has two versions, for different heights. The smaller version of the Louis Poulsen AJ Royal suspension has a diameter of370 mm. This versionwas designed to be suspendedfrom a higher ceiling. This makes the light diffused through an acrylic opal base plate. This ensures the Louis Poulsen AJ Royal toemanate a 100% glare-free light.
The slightly larger version of the suspension light has a diameter of 500 mm. This version was designed to be hung from a lower height. The original luminous version of this size of the suspension lightis not fitted with a diffuser, but the open rings at the top slightly illuminates the fixture.
The Louis Poulsen AJ Royal is made of white lacquered aluminum and steel. It features is a base shade with a 370 mm.This diffuses the light to emanate a 100% glare-free light. It has a white fabric cord. This lamp brings us a retro feel that is sure to catch the attention o f anyone who experiences it.
