The composition begins with traditional Japanese woodcut printing, capturing the natural grain structure of wood before shapes and forms are cut out to create a balanced, sculptural arrangement. The result is a visual echo of Mentsen's Offcut Mobiles — sculptural works crafted entirely from discarded wood — translated into a striking flat work for the wall.

Each print is produced as a gallery-grade 12-colour Giclée fine art print, reproduced on FSC-certified 265g acid-free paper to ensure rich detail and long-lasting colour fidelity. True to Paper Collective's commitment to quality and sustainability, every piece is made to order in Denmark, minimizing waste while optimizing the final result.

Available in sizes 30x30 cm, 50x50 cm, 70x70 cm, and 100x100 cm, Cut Shapes 02 adapts easily to different interiors, whether as a subtle accent or a bold statement piece.

Mentsen is a partnership between Japanese designers Yasuyuki Sakurai and Risa Sano, founded in London in 2011. Working between craft and industrial design, the studio's name translates to 'lines and surfaces' in Japanese — a fitting reference to their work across furniture, product design, and one-off handmade objects. Their fascination with timber's natural imperfections — knots, colouring, cracks — runs through this entire series, transforming what might otherwise be discarded into considered, balanced compositions worthy of display.
