The piece draws its character from the studio's three-dimensional practice, celebrating the beauty found in left-over timber textures. Each composition begins with traditional Japanese woodcut printing, capturing the natural grain, knots, and markings of wood, before shapes are carefully cut and arranged into balanced, sculptural forms. The result is a visual echo of Mentsen's Offcut Mobiles, translating their three-dimensional, handcrafted sensibility into a graphic, two-dimensional format.

True to the studio's philosophy, the print honours materials that might otherwise be discarded, transforming imperfections like cracks and colour variation into points of visual interest. The composition balances organic texture with considered geometry, making it a versatile addition to both minimalist and more eclectic interiors.

Produced using 12-colour Giclée printing, Cut Shapes 05 is created on FSC certified, acid-free 265g paper, ensuring gallery-grade quality and longevity.
