paper-collective-trophy-art-print
Paper Collective Trophy Art Print

Trophy by Finnish dark room artist Mikael Siirilä is a striking addition to the Paper Collective art print collection, continuing his ongoing study of subject, form, and obscurity. The piece depicts the obscured bust of a bull, rendered with a haunting, sculptural presence that lingers somewhere between photography and abstraction. Siirilä's hand-stippling technique, applied directly onto original silver gelatin prints, lends the work a tactile depth and texture that moves beyond the conventions of traditional photographic art, giving Trophy a quiet, introspective intensity.

Each print is produced using a 12-colour Giclée process on FSC-certified, 265g acid-free paper, ensuring gallery-grade quality and exceptional longevity of both image and tone. Every piece is made to order in Denmark, a production approach chosen to minimize waste while maintaining the highest standard of craftsmanship.

Trophy is available in sizes A4, 30x40 cm, 50x70 cm, 70x100 cm, and 100x140 cm, allowing the piece to be adapted to a range of interiors, from an intimate accent in a reading corner to a commanding statement above a sofa or console.

Born in Helsinki in 1978, Mikael Siirilä approaches photography as a slow, reflective practice, working exclusively with black & white film and the silver gelatin process. His distinctive visual language, marked by pronounced film grain, dominant black elements, and ambiguous edges, explores themes of outsiderhood, absence, and presence, treating each photograph as a handmade object born from patience and darkroom discipline.
