Crafted as a collectible miniature, it captures the character of the original with remarkable attention to detail.

The chair's basic forms are round, echoing the visual language of one of Wright's best-known buildings, the S.C. Johnson & Son Company Administration Building in Racine, Wisconsin. When it opened in 1939, the building caused a sensation. Its workspaces were lit exclusively by skylights, and images of the interior, with its "forest" of round columns topped with lily-pad-like caps, travelled around the world.

Wright regarded furniture, interiors and even his buildings as an abstracted, organic continuation of the surrounding landscape or cityscape. The Johnson Wax Chair reflects this philosophy, translating the architecture's curved geometry into a piece of seating design.

This miniature is made from a combination of metal, fabric upholstery and cherry wood, bringing together contrasting textures in a compact format. At a scale of 1:6, it makes an appealing addition to a collection of design miniatures, or a thoughtful gift for lovers of architecture and twentieth-century design.

Part of the Vitra Miniatures Collection, it offers a way to enjoy an iconic piece of design history on a shelf, desk or display cabinet.
