Filip Arickx is a Belgian designer educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He began his career working with Dirk Bikkembergs before launching his own label. In 1997, together with An Vandevorst, he founded the avant-garde brand A.F. Vandevorst. The label became known for its conceptual and theatrical fashion, blending uniforms, fetishism, and symbolism. Their collections often used Red Cross imagery, merging fragility with strength. Over two decades, they created ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, and haute couture. In 2020, the duo closed the brand, citing creative and commercial pressures. Arickx then turned to new artistic directions, including glassblowing.
