Founded by Czech entrepreneur and engineer Jan Rabell in 2006, the Brokis brand was created to enlarge Bohemian glassmaking and reserve generations of skilled craftsmanship. This was achieved through the acquisition of Janštejn Glassworks, which had originated as far back as the 19th century. Soon after the takeover, Rabell produced Italian-inspired heaters as well as more streamlined production methods. These included glassblowing, optic moulding, and conventional hotshop methods. Rabell combined the old with the new, a style which is now distinctive of the Brokis brand.
