The Vaarnii Ast Stool, designed by Dimitri Bähler, combines the rustic and the modern in an unpretentious design. It is made from thick, sturdy pieces of pine, and its only decoration is the gently rounded edges and the knots and lively grain typical of the wood.
Ast is German for branch, a nod to the knots that show off this strong but often overlooked material. Besides an extra seat, the stool works as a nightstand or a small side table.
Made in Finland of Finnish pine.
