Choosing the right lighting in 7 steps

  • Energy-saving bulbs: Energy-efficient, lasting 7,000 to 10,000 hours, which is longer than incandescent bulbs. Suitable for general lighting and indoor spaces such as bedrooms and offices. Fluorescent tubes are also efficient and provide high light output for workspaces.



Step 3: What is the right colour temperature?

The right colour temperature is 2700-3000K for living rooms and bedrooms, 4000-5000K for workspaces and kitchens, and 5000K or higher for outdoor spaces and garages. This matters because colour temperature sets the mood. Warm white (2700K) creates atmospheric lighting.

Step 7: What is the energy consumption of the bulb?

The energy consumption of the bulb depends on the type of bulb and the number of watts it uses. The energy consumption of bulbs is measured in watts, which indicates how much electricity the bulb uses per second. The efficiency of a bulb is determined by the amount of light it emits per watt consumed, expressed in lumens per watt.

LED lighting is much more efficient because it delivers more light (lumens) per watt than halogen or incandescent bulbs. A regular incandescent bulb uses more electricity to produce the same light output as an LED bulb. Energy labels show how efficient a bulb is, helping you choose lighting that consumes less energy and reduces energy costs.
