Le Klint

The heritage of the LE KLINT brand goes as far back as the start of the 20th century. Back then, architect and Engineer, P.V. Jensen-Klint, designed and produced a hand-pleated lamp suitable for a paraffin lamp.

After some refinement, the concept was turned into a business in 1943, managed by Tage Klint. Tage added his own bit of detail to the famous lamp in the form of an elastic collar.

Since then, LE KLINT has gathered a reputation, worldwide, for their exceptional craftsmanship. Their aim has always been to continue developing their product range and to stay current. They are constantly entering into partnerships with other architects and designers who can contribute to their collection.

Current CEO of LE KLINT, Kim Weckstrøm Jensen, has been quoted saying:

“Light has always meant a lot to me - the northern lights in an ice cold sky above a snow-capped mountain, the spring sunlight, that twinkles in between a forest of freshly blossoming beach trees, the glare on the surface of the sea, seen from a kayak perspective and that perfect functional light from a handmade designer lamp.”

The main ‘secret ingredient’ behind LE KLINT’s lamps continued success are their Pleating Technicians. As quoted on their website, “There is a ‘pleating lady’ behind every single lamp shade leaving LE KLINT”. LE KLINT Pleating Technicians form the basis of the production of all of the brand’s paper and plastic lamps. The pleating and folding of these take place in LE KLINT’s Pleating Studio in Odense, Denmark.

Within a Pleating Technician’s first year of training, they would have learnt to master the fundamentals of pleating. Within the next few years, however, they will be provided training in a number of other pleating patterns, styles, shapes, and sizes. Eventually, the Pleating Technician will know how to pleat and fold every LE KLINT lamp design, off by heart.
