Secto Design originated from a requirement for original, wooden lamps that complemented similar furniture. Created by skilled craftsmen, the lamps are made from wood and are appealing in both look and feel. These lamps are on trend and can be spotted at countless fascinating functions and venues. The aim behind the Secto Design lamps is to create an atmosphere that is both inviting and attractive. Through their architecture, they provide just the right amount of light to achieve this. Furthermore, there is a large emphasis placed on space throughout the design.
Founded by Seppo Koho and Tuula Jusélius in 1995, the designs, themselves, are clear and fresh with attention to detail and evidence of professional woodwork. The Secto lamps are unique in the sense that they are made out of wood, a new addition to the lamp market. They are made of PEFC certified, top-quality Finnish birch veneers, which are formpressed into blanks. These blanks are then cut into slats, and sanded. The end result is then attached to one another with rings of aircraft plywood. The entire craftsmanship process takes place in Finland.
Through markets attended throughout the world to showcase the incredible Secto Design lamps, they have become sought after worldwide. This has also led to various ‘copy-cats’ imitating the original Secto lamp design using different, cheaper, materials. Throughout it all, however, Secto Designs have stayed true to who they are and the quality of lamps they produce. This includes a consideration of the environment through production, with the original Secto lamps being designed for energy-saving light bulbs. Secto Designs are always on the lookout for the latest environmentally friendly light sources in order to incorporate these into their overall end product. They are also sure to abide by all recycling and waste legislation put in place with regards to producing electronic products.
